ARCO Math

Building a Learning Infrastructure First

ARCO Math helps  Malaysian children in Year 2-8 learn joyfully -without pressure, competition, or fear of failure. We focus on building confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning that lasts for life.

Children learn together in small groups of 2-5 persons for just 30 minutes a day. No supervision is needed – just a supportive environment using a digital platform that adapts to each child’s pace.

THE CHALLENGE

Why Math Alone Isn't Enough!

Many enrichment programs offer worksheets or online lessons assuming  children are ready and motivated, and the environment is in place. But without a foundation of readiness, even the best content is like “a book on a shelf”.

Many children struggle with mathematics, not because they can’t learn, but because the learning environment is not in tune with them, does not provide a social connection, or does not foster autonomous learning.

ARCO starts by ensuring children are emotionally and cognitively prepared to learn. We build that foundation first – so learning becomes natural, confident, and joyful.

OUR APPROACH

ARCO Builds the Infrastructure for Learning

How It Works

Our approach  rests on three pillars that make learning sustainable and empowering

01.

Readiness & Prerequisites

Students first build an awareness of their current knowledge. They  fill knowledge gaps and only then move forward.

02.

Social Support & Community

No child learns alone. ARCO children work share their work with peers; parents and loved ones can monitor their progress. An adult, whom we call the LEAD, monitors their progress and steps in only when needed.

03.

Autonomy & Lifelong Growth

Students track their own progress, reflect on challenges, and take responsibility for their learning. They become independent, lifelong  learners.

Why ARCO Matters

Education that transforms lives, not just test scores

Closing Gaps for Underserved Learners

Rural communities in Sarawak and across Malaysia lack access to quality mathematics education. ARCO brings autonomous learning infrastructure to where it’s needed most — at minimal cost to sustain NGO operations.

Students Learn How to Own Their Learning

The best education doesn’t create dependency — it creates autonomy. ARCO students learn not just mathematics, but how to learn anything. They become lifelong learners, not test-takers.

Families and Communities Are Part of the Process

When families see their children’s progress, when peers encourage each other, when communities celebrate growth — mathematics becomes more than a subject. It becomes a path to confidence.

OUR First PILOT PROGrams

Year 2-8 Math: Where Infrastructure Meets Content

ARCO Math pilots our autonomous learning approach for primary students across Malaysia.  We rely on trusted  content  platforms like Khan Academy.  We also have a strong English language component for students whose language is Malay, and a supportive infrastructure, just to ensure that every child can thrive.

ARCO Math’s delivery works best when a small group of students (two to five) work together.  They practice math individually and have daily (online) get-togethers all in a supportive digital environment.

ARCO Math is especially powerful when teachers are unavailable for teaching, when children’s knowledge gaps have grown over time, or when students wish to learn independently.  In rural communities, for example, in Sarawak, where access to quality math education can be limited, ARCO brings a self-sustaining learning system right to the child’s doorstep.

Our program nurtures curiosity and exploration.  Through stories and math activities, children collaborate, discuss, and rediscover joy in learning.
